An interesting technical Streaming Media East session on simulating a live stream by using on-demand video files, in this case the VEVO TV live video channel. It is based on the concept of creating a virtual stream with Adobe Media Server, which can also be used to extract highlight clips.

VEVO’s live stream setup involves other components such as a transcoding layer and output options to multiple video formats. It seems to be a scalable solution, and an interesting showcase how to bring a simple concept to the next level.
