Firefox OS Targets Low Cost Phones with Open Web
Gary Kovacs, Mozilla CEO, is trying capture marketshare from other popular mobile operating system by targeting unsubsidized $100 phones and lesser developed countries. The goal is to bring the next 2 billion potential smartphone users online, starting in June – all with an open web based approach.
It will be interesting to see how this will compare to low cost Android phones, with its broad application and developer support, and the ability to also use html5 apps via e.g. Phonegap.
