Flashstreamworks – A New Design and Broader Focus

Posted by: Jens Loeffler    Tags:      Posted date:  December 11, 2011  |  No comment

Flashstreamworks finally got a fresh new face.  It’s been a while, and it was a very much needed upgrade (thanks to Oscar Trelles for letting me use his blog engine for more than half a decade).

The idea to create Flashstreamworks came in early 2004, while I was a developer in the interactive department of a post production company in NYC. The company was a spin-off from one of the large interactive agencies during the .com area, and was focused on “broadband” since 2000.

Clearly it was premature, but video was in their DNA. The technologies and the infrastructure during those days was very challenging, but when Macromedia added video support to their Flash Player plugin, it became clear that they opened Pandora’s box to online video as we know it today.

Flashstreamworks has been focused to cover technologies, innovations and trends in both the online streaming as well as interactive agency space over the years. (if you would like to take a trip to the past, I would encourage you to look through the archive – e.g . “Flash Video is hot”  from 2004 is quite remarkable, or the interview with Chris Hock from the same year).

Now  it’s December 2011, 7 years after the original launch date. A lot happened with many milestones during the years. YouTube, Hulu, Obama’s Inauguration live event,  World Cup 2010, and of course the iPad and Android, just to mention a few, and the speed of innovation clearly increased over the last years.

I’m excited to see that online video  is more relevant than ever, and the time couldn’t be better to refresh Flashstreamworks with a new design and expanded focus. Flashstreamworks will from now on cover online video, mobile, interactive web, and online advertisement – a broad range, but a natural evolution.

Enjoy the new Design and looking forward to your feedback.
